Roma
Posted by Brittany Reed in Uncategorized on 06 25th, 2008Ciao from Roma!
We are here! Yesterday was a long tiring day. We had to get up at 4:30 am to catch a shuttle at 5:15 to get to the airport. We took a RyanAir flight to Rome which was a funny experience. Lots of jokes came from that flight.
Rome is very easy to get around in. Everyone is friendly and a lot of people speak English here. Our hostel is really nice and the front desk people are very very helpful. Once we got here, we unpacked and went to a restaurant around the corner for lunch. It was deeeeeeeeeelicious. I LOVE italian food.
Then, Daniel, Anna and I traveled over to Campo de Fiori and Piazza Navona. I love love love Rome. It is so incredibly beautiful. I just can’t stop taking pictures. From there we walked all around and got to see the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps.
More will come later! We will try to upload some pics here. We love and miss you guys!!
PARIS!!
Posted by Brittany Reed in Uncategorized on 06 23rd, 2008Hello!
It has been so long! We have been having a great time in Paris!! We were bummed that we havent gotten to post yet! We have taken tons of pictures. Just a quick list of things weve seen = Notre Dame, Ile de cite, the Eiffel tower (during the day and night!!), the Arc de triomphe, the Louvre, the Orsay, and lots more.
Highlight = Some of us took a boat tour along the Seinne and got to see allllll of Paris. It is just SO SO beautiful. Its unreal. Then after that, we found a small cafe and sat outside right across from the Louvre during sunset. We got coffee and hot chocolate. It was perfect!
Claire arrived today so our group is now complete. Tomorrow we leave for Rome so maybe we will get to upload pics from there!
Love you!!

Last full day!
Posted by Brittany Reed in Uncategorized on 06 19th, 2008Hello everybody!!
We had another great day here in London!! We spent all morning in the Kensington Gardens. It was so beautiful. We got to see the Palace, walk all around the park, see a Peter Pan statue, and have almost afternoon tea at the Orangery there. We felt quite British. After that, we laid out in the park for a while and read (Daniel slept) and relaxed. It was so wonderful!!
From there, we headed over to Southwark which was a really neat part of town. There is a good mixture of old historic buildings and modern looking buildings. It is also where London Bridge and the London Tower are. We were hoping to go see King Lear at the Globe Theatre but it was SOLD OUT!! We were quite disappointed but we might try to go see a play there our last night in London before we come home!! We finished the night by sitting in Piccadilly Circus and watching everyone. It’s kinda like the NYC of London - lots of lights and flashy things!
We are very happy with our time in London!! I’m so glad that we got to see as much as we did in such a short time!! I am also really excited to go to parissss tomorrow!! It’s going to be a HUGE change!
I hope everyone is doing well there!! Love you!

I love London!
Posted by anna in London on 06 18th, 2008Hi everyone!!!
This is my first time using a blog so bear with me! As you all know, we arrived in London yesterday. I love it! I was really looking forward to being in London probably this most (I’m quite an Anglophile), and it’s already met my expectations. Everything is beautiful! It’s surreal to see in person all these sites you’ve seen in pictures your whole life. It still hasn’t fully hit that we’re here.
It’s wonderful being around a new culture as well. And it’s nice starting here since they at least speak the same language! Yes it’s totally different as well. I love being around all the British accents. London has a very unique energy and vibe. There are so many different cultures in one city! And we’ve only just begun!
My favorite site yesterday was Westminister Abbey. It is the most magnificiant and awe-inspiring building I’ve ever set foot in. Poet’s corner was a personal favorite of course, but also the altars and stained glass were beautiful.
Well, we’re off for another
Hello there!
Posted by Brittany Reed in London on 06 18th, 2008Hello all!
So, we have completed our first day of traveling the streets of London!! The first day was a huge success and we got to see a lot. We were very proud of how well we found our way around the city, haha. We started off by heading to Trafalgar Square which was absolutely incredible. When you first walk around in the city and see all of the architecture its like you’re in a dream!! We hung out there for a little while and then made our way down to St. James Park which was absolutely GORGEOUS!! There were tons and tons of people out and about. We actually took a little nap there because we were all so very exhausted. After resting, we walked down to Buckingham Palace and then off to Westminster Abbey. We got to go in the Abbey and walk all around it to look at everything. It was breathtaking! After THAT, we got some dinner at a local pub and then took a ride on the London Eye (the big ferris wheel)!! We were extremely tired by the end of the day and came home to the hostel to have an early bedtime of 9 pm haha. We were the first ones in the whole place to go to bed!!
We took tons and tons of pictures!! We’ll try to get them up here eventually! Alright, I must run for now but we will update again soon!! Love you all and miss you!!

My Backpack
Posted by Daniel Folkes in Uncategorized on 06 12th, 2008This is the SWEET backpack I got from my aunt Jane. She used it hiking the AT (I think).
It’s probably slight overkill, but I don’t really think you can ever have enough backpack space, it’s kinda like closets.
It is slightly purple in the wrong light… i’m sure the purple light does not exist in Europe land.
Brittanys Hello World

Preparation
Posted by Daniel Folkes in prep on 06 12th, 2008I am making some last minute preparations for the trip. I just got a bag from my Aunt Jane. It’s pretty much the bomb-diggity.
I still need to get all the paper work straight with flights, but it should all fall into place!
